Design approach
The Pearl Bungalow is imagined as a calm, luminous shell that protects and celebrates its colonial roots while quietly updating every surface for contemporary life. Original arches, teak doors, and terrazzo inlays are restored and framed like heirlooms, balanced by clean-lined furniture, concealed storage, and a soft, coastal-inspired palette. Public spaces flow as a sequence of verandas and salons that blur indoors and outdoors, while private rooms are layered with tactile fabrics, bespoke joinery, and curated objects that can evolve with the family over time. Throughout the project, lighting, art, and handcrafted details are choreographed to make the home feel both unmistakably historic and effortlessly modern—timeless rather than nostalgic.
